Set of 12, 8 postage and four airmail, Scott 103-103K, MNH

This is a "sleeper" Disney stamp set.  See the new issue brochure from the Bhutan post that is pictured in the Postal History pages.   It shows that the designs were from the Walt Disney Co. in Los Angeles, California.

The backsides of  these stamps have inscriptions certifying that they are printed on .001 steel foil from the United States Steel Corporation.  The price is for stamps that may have slight points of rust.  Storing these stamps in tropical climates or in moist conditions will lead to fast rusting.

The impetus behind the set lies in the fact that the Bhutan stamp agent at the time was an official of the U.S. Steel Corporation, and he used Bhutanese stamps as marketing tools.  Illustrations of displays of Bhutan stamps in supermarkets in the USA, offered as "give-aways" for minimum purchase of advertised products (such as medicines), are in the Postal History pages.

The single stamps can be differentiated from the stamps cut from the souvenir sheet set.  The stamps in the souvenir sheets have inscriptions indicating their respective themes in their lower right margins.
